It’s all looking ‘treemendous’!
Our AGM on Zoom…
Members, supporters, family and friends joined Trustees on Zoom for this year’s AGM – which included a live link with the WT Youth Club taking place at Rockspring at the same time.
Everyone was thrilled to see the Youth Club members enjoying their session in a Covid Safe environment and Sammy introduced a short film they had made about their experiences of lockdown.
Working Together AGM 2020…
Chair of Trustees, Nicola North, reflected on the events of the year:
“What a year for everyone involved in WT…… the waves of change just kept on coming. Many changes involved difficult decisions and hard choices. Other changes have been forced upon us.
Looking back one word springs out that sums up what was needed from everyone, but particularly from our members and their parents, carers and supporters. RESILIENCE:
- The quality that allows some people to be knocked down by the
adversities of life and come back at least as strong as before
This epitomises this year and the ability of the WT family to plough on into the future.
This resilience, I believe, has come from the principles embedded within the philosophy behind Working Together – the legacy of Richard Geuter taken too soon and much missed by so many.”
“People matter, our members matter, our staff, volunteers, trustees and supporters all matter – all behind a common goal of kindness and the aspiration that our members should lead fulfilling and purposeful lives.
We can look forward to a post COVID-19 World and the potential for new challenges, opportunities and adventures. In the meantime, we all need to dig deep and continue to be resilient. Help each other to get through these next few months and move on stronger in the knowledge that
together we can ensure a brighter future.“
The AGM enjoyed watching a slide show looking back at some of the main events that happened during the past year….
You can watch the slide show by clicking on the Youtube link https://youtu.be/0M9yZ5lcL9o
We also watched the film made by Youth Club and Diversity about their lockdown experiences, and a film made with members who attend day time sessions at Rockspring, Writers’ and Makers’ Club.
Looking forward to 2021…
Nigel Bishop, Chief Officer at Working Together, thanked members, families, carers, volunteers, staff, trustees, funders and supporters for all their support, navigating WT through the challenges of Covid-19.
Nigel reported that we continue to operate as effectively as we can within a Covid Safe environment, and have adapted our programme of activities and clubs and business plan in order to support members in the best way possible.
Challenges still lie ahead, but the successful return of face-to-face day activities at Rockspring, Youth Club and a limited version of Diversity has been a huge step in a positive direction.
We’re now working with and supporting the Ludlow Food Bank and this is proving a big benefit to both organisations.
We’re looking forward to a time when the Café can re-open to the public and when Sports Club can start again – perhaps in the Spring.
We also look forward to when work can, hopefully, begin again in the community garden and have lots of plans for growing our own vegetables.
